  1.  A rectangular plot of land has sides 60.45±0.02 m and 50.84±0.03 m. What should be the area of the rectangular plot?
  2. While measuring horizontal angles by a theodolite at station O, the following observation were recorded are A= 2801’28.2”, B= 37059’12.6”, C= 660 00’44.4”. Determine the most probable  values of A,B, and C
  3.   The following observation were made in a rating test of a current meter with rating formula V=aN+b, where N= 0.4, 1.2, 1.6, 2.2 and V= 0.6, 1.8, 2.4, 2.5. Find the constant value a &b using least square method.

Sharda University in association with Ambuja Cement is orgainising a 2 days Training programme on Self Compacting Concrete and Concrete Mix Design at Ambuja Cement Plant in Dadri, Greater Noida. The details of the programme is as,

Date: 15th and 16th April, 2014

Day1: Concrete Mix Design

The process of determining required and specifiable characteristics of a concrete mixture is called mix design. Characteristics can include: (1) fresh concrete properties; (2) required mechanical properties of hardened concrete such as strength and durability requirements; and (3) the inclusion, exclusion, or limits on specific ingredients. Mix design leads to the development of a concrete specification.The process of determining required and specifiable characteristics of a concrete mixture is called mix design. Mix design leads to the development of a concrete specification.

Day2: Self Compacting Concrete

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a flowing concrete mixture that is able to consolidate under its own weight. The highly fluid nature of SCC makes it suitable for placing in difficult conditions and in sections with congested reinforcement. Use of SCC can also help minimize hearing-related damages on the worksite that are induced by vibration of concrete. Another advantage of SCC is that the time required to place large sections is considerably reduced.

For the design of industrial shed, requirement is dead load, live load and wind load. refer IS 875 for load calculations

  1. location of building is used to determine the wind load,
  2. use any shape of roof truss
  3. the load in individual member is calculated either by using method of joints or method of section
  4. after this design the member, the member will be either in tension or in compression
  5. design the column and column foundation in steel only

classes post mte and term-break

After the mid-term exams, the classes shall resume as usual from 10th March, 2014.

The holi vacations and term-break is from 15th till 19th March, 2014.

Post break, the classes shall resume from 20th March

Special exam for 1st and 2nd yr students shall be from 20th March till 26th March

Cocubes assessment for third year students of B. Tech (All Branches) which  is scheduled for 13 March 2014 in two shifts at the PGDBM computer labs.

The timings of the test would be from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.

The exact schedule shall be notified at a later date

So, tomorrow i.e., 5th March, 2014 there shall be examination of OCF.
